Irina Somoborac

Irina Somborac is a costume designer and visual artist based in Belgrade. She holds both a bachelor's (2012) and master's degree (2013) in Stage Costume Design from the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade, under the mentorship of Prof. Ljiljana Petrović.

Irina collaborates actively on stage productions as a costume designer and is also engaged in puppet and set design. Her work has received numerous awards for costume design and aesthetic-technical solutions for puppetry and scenography at national and international festivals, including the Subotica International Children’s Theatre Festival, Festival of Professional Theaters of Vojvodina, Meetings of Professional Puppet Theaters of Serbia, and others.

A longtime scholarship recipient from the City of Belgrade, Irina has participated in a range of exhibitions and research projects in the fields of performance and design. Her work was featured at the A.A. Bakhrushin Theatre Museum in Moscow as part of the 2019 international exhibition Innovative Costume of the 21st Century: The Next Generation. She has designed over 30 original costume and set concepts to date.
